Is it Because...?

Why do I love wedding photography? why do I love photography at all? what is it about the 'click' that makes me tick?
Is it because...
  • I get to be amongst people looking and feeling their best
  • Working 14 hour days still leaves me with so much energy I cant sleep
  • I see a must have shot everywhere I look
  • The colour around me
  • The emotion and energy everywhere
  • the spontaneous reality of a day day planned to perfection but with moments you could never prepare for
  • Seeing the look on a Brides face when you ask her for an adventurous pose with her partner, then seeing her face when she loves it.
  • Watching guests generously enjoy the bar.
  • Looking back on the previous day in the editing room
  • Retelling the story digitally which images that will last a lifetime
  • Meeting the couple to deliver their photo's and seeing the reactions first hand
  • The speeches, the comedy, the entertainment
  • The opportunity to let my creativity explode and be booked for it
  • I cant imagine doing anything else
  • or is it all of this and more...?
This is me, this is why I do what I do, when you say I do.
To the couples I have worked with, and the couples I will be working with soon I am honored to have been chosen as your photographer.

In front of the lens instead of behind it (for a change)

The buzzer goes off at 11.35am, the postman is on the intercom and he's bringing me my new 50mm f1.4 lens it's only right I try it out immediately.

Taking the decision to upgrade from the f1.8 for various reasons I am instantly in love with the performance of this lens. I had really been getting into portrait work with my older 50mm lens and after a 7 week break I can get back into it with this one.

You'll usually find me behind the camera instead in front of it but taking a rare opportunity for some self portraits (OK I was still technically behind it in these shots) but the focus was on me, get it? focus on me, right poor jokes aside here's the shots from today.

2011 Collaboration with Helen Howard Photography

And so as 2011 is well underway it is with great excitement that I can finally announce one of the most important projects of the year, in February I will be collaborating on my first wedding with Helen Howard from Helen Howard Photography http://www.helenhowardphotography.co.uk/

Helen and I have been speaking for many months now and have had lots of chats about all things photography related and for the first time we have agreed with a super lucky couple to cover their wedding together.

I cannot express how excited I am about this opportunity, Its clear that while Helen and I think along the same lines we also have 2 unique and valuble visions to our work and style and to put these together is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Covering the day from start until close Helen brings a weath of client satisfaction and wedding experience to the table which will compliment the technical ability and fresh and exciting vision I have for my brand.

Currently in the planning stages of how we will best capture the day we are sure of one thing, 100% satisfaction for the couple.

Unfortunately everyone will need to wait until after Feb 26th to see the results but we hope and are confident that future collaborations will be made possible after this exciting venture.

If you would like to get in touch with either myself or Helen please use our offical website links below:

Winter Wonderland @ Hyde Park London

Ah, Christmas. One of my favorite times of year, Not only do we get indulge in great food and drink (and not feel guilty about it till January) but we get the chance of snow, fantastic opportunities for great scenic shots, decorations, Christmas lights and long cozy nights in or fun festive nights out.

So... Last night I decided to venture out to Winter Wonderland @ Hyde Park in London.

Packed full of everything a Christmas lover could want from Christmas fun fair rides to Mulled wine and Christmas food.

Huge crowds gave Winter Wonderland a great atmosphere, and the photo opportunities here were endless.

If you are going to pop down to Winter Wonderland with children, id perhaps recommend not going at peak time as it can be incredibly busy, but do try and see all of the park, it was my first time there and I loved it.

Merry Christmas everyone

Photography trip on the Isle of Sheppy

The weekend just gone saw a trip to the Isle of Sheppy for a friends 30th birthday, now i had been warned about the lack of delights that this particular island had to offer (other than the exciting bridge) but we still found time to take a brisk walk out for a few shots of the surroundings.

Im particularly happy with the first shot on this blog showing a fairly rough coastline made of natural elements and left over man made stone work and the final shot showing the sky reach its dramatic peak over the weekend.

Quick update on the website:

http://www.seanodell.co.uk/ will be going live by the end of this very week, so expect a full blog update soon with images and and all kinds of over excitedness.
